Herizon is a wordless book dedicated to the voiceless with the hope for a more inclusive and empowering future. The story details the journey of a girl as she helps her grandmother retrieve a flock of sheep with the aid of a magical scarf. Within the scarf’s powers is the ability to transform, which changes the girl and the world she knows.
Herizon was named the American Indian Youth Literature Award's Best Picture Book of 2022. Rise: A Feminist Book Project for Ages 0-18 selected Herizon as one of the titles honored on the Rise 2023 Booklist. In 2024, Herizon was selected by the New Mexico State Library to represent the state of New Mexico at the National Book Festival in Washington D.C.
The signed edition includes author Daniel W. Vandever and illustrator Corey Begay's signatures.
