HISTORY

South of Sunrise Creative. Herizon. Daniel Vandever.

CEO Daniel Vandever worked over ten years in the tribal college and university movement.

South of Sunrise Creative was founded in 2021 as COVID-19 altered the education landscape requiring institutions to navigate a new normal. SOSC brings 15 years of strategic communication experience with over 10 years in higher education. Work experience extends to the fields of institutional planning, strategic communications, enrollment management, and data analytics and reporting. Services are offered to communities on and off tribal lands, and industries inside and outside of education.

Daniel Vandever is the principal owner of SOSC. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism and his Master's in Community and Regional Planning from the University of New Mexico. Vandever worked ten years at Navajo Technical University where he led the university’s marketing and communication efforts, chaired the university’s Enrollment Management Committee, and served on the President’s Cabinet and Provost's Council.

In 2021 Vandever made the transition to self-publishing after his debut picture book, Fall in Line, Holden, was awarded an honor award with the American Indian Library Association. The intent to self-publish is to pave a path for other authors, illustrators, and creatives to follow in order to increase diverse voices in the publishing world.
